History of the Chevrolet Corvette
- The Corvette has been manufactured by General Motors since 1953.
- Although was manufactured in Flint, MI at one time, the Vette Factory is in Bowling Green, KY
- Was orginally designed for GI's that were returning from over sees and had been buying two seat sport cars such as the MG, Jaguar, and Alpha Romeo
- Early Harley designed the car for GM and named it after a small maneuverable frigate
- First Vettes were built mostly by hand
- Introduced orginally with state of the art fiber glass body
- Corvette has been named pacecar at Indy500 ten times
- In May 2007 rumors started circulating that there may be a four door Corvette
- 1962 was last year of a Corvette with a trunk until 1998

When will the Cruze be in American showrooms?
Production is scheduled to begin in April 2010 at GM’s Lordstown, Ohio, plant and will arrive in showrooms shortly thereafter.
What other markets will be selling the Cruze?
Cruze will be offered first in European markets in spring 2009, followed by our other global regions. Eventually, it will be sold in more than 100 countries.
Will it be called Cruze outside of the U.S.?
Yes, it will be called Cruze in every market where it will be sold.
Where will you build the Cruze?
The Cruze will be built in Asia, Europe and North America (Lordstown).
Where specifically has the Cruze been designed and engineered?
Taking advantage of our global operations, the Cruze has been designed and engineered by our global talent in Europe and Asia.
Is this vehicle based off of your Delta Architecture?
The Cruze is based on GM’s global compact car architecture.
What engines will be available with the Cruze in the US?
Engine offerings in the U.S. will include a 1.4-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine. GM will offer a variety of economic and dynamic powertrains that will vary by global region and country. At this time we are not discussing other powertrain options for this vehicle.
Any plans to pull production ahead?
We are constantly looking for ways to bring great new products to market as quickly as possible. The Cruze is slated as a MY2011 and will go into production in April 2010 in North America (Lordstown). In the meantime, we continue to sell the fuel-economy leader in its segment, the Cobalt XFE with its 37 highway mpg.
How much will the Cruze cost?
Pricing will be announced just prior to arriving in dealer showrooms.
What about the Chevy Orlando (7-passenger Delta-based vehicle) that was revealed at the Paris Auto Show?
There are no current plans to sell that vehicle in the U.S.
